Choosing a wiki category

Placing your article content in the right category is important for two key reasons:

  1. It helps users to find your content
  2. It keeps the wiki organized

You should place your article in ONE category only. See Special:Categories for a full list of categories.

Choosing a category based on your article type

This wiki is organized into several categories and subcategories. Inclusion into a subcategory will automatically include it into any higher categories. So [[Category:Flash Tutorials]] will automatically be included into: [[Category:Software]] [[Category:Software Tutorials]]

Definition/Explanation Articles

If you're article is not a tutorial and simply explains or defines something, then it should be placed in a relevant subcategory of Category:Hardware or Category:Software.

Popular Informational Categories:

Software Tutorial Articles

For software tutorials you should place your article in a category of the form [[Category:''Keyphrase'' Tutorials]]. So if you've written a tutorial about flash development, add [[Category:Flash Tutorials]]. If it's about using Touchlib, use [[Category:Touchlib Tutorials]] etc. Your tutorial should be placed under the Category:Software Tutorials category.

Hardware Tutorial Articles

Similarly, you should place your hardware tutorial in a category of the form [[Category:''Keyphrase'' Tutorials]]. So if it's about writing LED's, it should be placed in [[Category:Light Emitting Diode Tutorials]]. Or if it's about compliant surfaces for FTIR, [[Category:Compliant Surface Tutorials]]. Your tutorial should be placed under the Category:Hardware Tutorials category.
